I was hoping to od a chapter-by-chapter report on the book ‘Twilight’ by Stephenie Meyer. I have obviously failed, as my blog implies.

I am currently on chapter 14 and I must admit that I am deeply enjoying the book. Someone shoot me, I just said that. I guess that this is my proof that I am your typical girl ^^

Surprisingly, I have only now seen Edward sparkle. I was one of those people who mocked Twilight in the past, and especially Count sparklelot. I am certaintly eating my words now (they could use extra carrots).

Now that I’ve seen the scene with Edward laying in the sun sparkling, and Bella stroking him with a strange kind of awe I have to say I found the whole scene rather….well…cute. I was giggling, smiling and squealing my way through that chapter.

Edward was incredibly adorable, and even making jokes about his undead status: “Jeeze you look as pale as a ghost. no! As pale as ME!”

I guess this proves that oyu really can’t judge a book by its cover. Which is ironic, when I first saw the title to Twilight (I only saw the title being advertised on a movie theatre) I immediately thought: “God, I want to see that” unfortunately my room mates disagreed and made sure I didn’t. I’m glad that I chose to read the book.

To the people who hate it, the book IS well written and enjoyable. It’s a book that I am having a great deal of fun with, and I can’t wait to see what comes next. The characters are more than a two-dimensional cut-out, and the vampires happily lack the melodramatic bemoaning of their undeath that seems to come as standard. they lack that longing to be human (thus far) and seem to embrace their life.

All in all, I can’t wait for more.

Am I the only one who finds herself slipping into daydreams where I start to imagine myself as something other than Ia m?

For me, it’s usually some kind of fantasy setting where I’m a sorceress or an elf or something equally beautiful or classically feminine, and I am always somewhat short with exotic features.

Sometimes I venture so far into these daydreams that I lose track of time…I wonder what that means? Is my dislike of mundania really so strong that my fantastical fantasies are a prefferable unreality to the real deal?

Okay, so last may 27th, I left to go to Anime North. What is Anime North (hereafter referred to as AN)? well, it’s Canada’s largest Anime Convention. We get guests worldover, and a huge chunk of the proceeds goes to sick-kids hospital.

So, what was Anime North like for me? Hard to say…I did enjoy it, and I picked up a new video game named: Ego Draconis. My brother grabbed Gungrave. There were other anime’s and games we picked up (Including the exceedingly rare and expensive Xenogears and Valkyrie Profile).
However, I missed 2 major things that I *REALLY* wanted to go to! T.T

1) The Final Fantasy Dissidia Tournament. I had my Sephiroth all ready too! Damn Damn Damn!

2) Meeting Vic Mignogna. For those of you who do  not recognize this name, Vic is the voice actor of Edward Elric as well as many other voices. He does a great child’s voice and is just super popular! I love vic and am part of his official fanclub: The Risembool Rangers.

/sigh.

After the con was the post-con sadness, the depression that smothers you when you miss what you were doing. We were having fun and didn’t want to leave, and of course there were TONNES of cosplayers. I myself went as Hinata Hyuuga. My brother went as Itachi Uchiha.

Next year I may go as a maid or as Chii from chobits. Who knows? Anyways, that’s my report! Bunnie, signing off.

This will be an exceedingly sarcastic book report, my attempt to emulate others like The Nostalgia Critic or Ben “Yahtzee” Croshaw, with that in mind: please don’t take anything I say too seriously, or rather read between the lines!

It’s been a hailed as a modern masterpiece, and condemned as one of the worst litterary disasters of the century.

Either way, all this free publicity must be making Stephenie Meyer emberrasingly wealthy.

But what is it about Twilight that has so many seething or rejoicing? Well I began to read the novel to fnd out!

First, let me say that a 498 large pages, the book isn’t small. I’ve read thicker but that’s fr from the point. THe point is that the novel isn’t an “afteroon read” book as much as it is “the long haul”.

Secondly: “The #1 New York Times Bestseller”. Well, the book gains no bonus points for that. This little decleration is written on so many books that it makes me wonder if my math text doodles wouldn’t also win this award.

But, I am getting off-topic.

Chapter 1: First Sight

This Chapter Introduces us to our main and suporting cast. They are:

1)  Isabella “Bella” Swan

Bella is our first protagonist; she’s thus far miserable, moody and semi-masochistic. She’s throwing an internal temper-tantrum because she chose to leave her mother in Phoenix and move to live with her father in Forks, Washington.

Renee Swan

Bella’s mother. Characterized as a scatter-brained, over-protective, clingy, emotionally dependant mother-figure. Frankly, she’s more childish than her daughter. She’s the kind of character who you’d want to get away from because their personality smothers others.

Charlie Swan

Police CHief of Forks and characterized as an awkward, emotional vortex who doesn’t realize when to let go of a relationship. He’s Bella’s father, who seems physically incapable of actual conversation.

This man’s overwhelming capacity to murdur interaction is only matched by his fixation with his ex-wife Renee.

I imagine she left him when she realized he had all the emotional capacit of a barbaque.

Edward Cullen

Finally, the man of the hour. Edward has one brother, cruelly named Emmette Cllen, and a sister named Alice. They also have two others in their home, if not family. They are named Rosalie and  Jasper Hale.

Edward is characterized as being schizophrenic; being angry at Bella, initially then almost friendly the next.

Nothing else has been revealed.

But we totally know what’s coming; Count Discoball. Most of the chapter is spent with Bella passively/aggressively hating herself for being in this position, and bemoaning her existance, and the existance of Forks.

Next review will have more of a review, but frankly there isn’t that much to report on in this chapter, just characterization.

Job Job Job

Just a quick one: I’m still trying to get a job.I’ve been trying for close to a year now, it’s…frustrating. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to increase my job prospects? Especially considering how weak my resume is.

Excerpt from Reader’s Digest, August 2009, Page 96, paragraph 3.

“Nothing in the world – organic or synthetic, metal or chemical – has produced more deaths than the AK-47. (AK = Avtomat Kalishnikova or Kalishnikov’s Automatic) It has killed more than the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, more than AIDS, more than Bubonic Plague, more than Malaria, more than all the attacks by Islamic Fundamentalists, more than the total of all the earthquakes in history.”

The AK-47 can carve straight through bullet-resistant glass, has only nine moving parts and can be used in ANY conditions without any performance impact.

The deadly simplicity of the gun means that even a child can use it – and they do. It’s on the Mozambican flag, and is a political symbol recognized world-wide.

People have named their children “Kalishikova” after the creator, and sent him pictures of the children which he frames and keeps, in admiration of him or after the gun that saved their life.

The gun is the most widely produced and used weapon world-wide, and a box of them weighs about the same as a box of tomato’s.

Perhaps we are looking or thinking of the wrong thing when we think of a weapon of mass destruction. Clearly; this Russian holdover from its communist days has a far higher body count than even nuclear weapons, so why aren’t we trying to control them?

Think about it.

Comments and the like? you know where the buttons are, have a great day! ^^

Code Geass

“That anime stuff is just for kids”

“Anime is a kids thing”

“When are you going to grow up and stop watching cartoons!?”

How many anime fans have had to weather these comments from parents?

Even as adults, we are embarrassed to admit that we enjoy our favourite past time? Why? for fear of being labelled an ‘adult child’.

Don’t you wish you could sit these people down and have them watch an anime that challenges their views on anime as a medium? Something to silence their disdainful, dismissive remarks that anime is merely a child’s plaything.

Enter Code Geass. Now, on the surface it has all the hallmarks of a typical anime: flashy colours, bright costume, and outragous characters.

These are where the similarities end.

Code Geass is one of the most thought-provoking anime’s I have had the privelage of seeing. It forgoes the usual monochrome character arrangements: “This is bad guy, this is good guy” for something far more interesting.

Perspective. If you look at a character from this point, they are good, look at it from another and they are bad. It really does depend on how you want to see a character.

The storyline is far too complex for children to understand and the battle scenes are too intense, this is not some child’s show where people are knocked down or just hurt in some mild fashion. This anime has death, lots of it, it has weapons of mass destruction, it has terrorists and issues that strike a bit close to home.

I highly recommend this anime for anyone who is looking for something that is a departure from the Bleach or Naruto’s out there.

Character designs by CLAMP, and featuring Johnny Yong Bosch as the main character: Lelouch vi Britannia!

Code Geass: an anime that tastes almost as good as carrots! ^^

This is the profile of my first TTRPG (Table-Top RPG) character, these are her vital stats and some information about her.

Name: Kimiko Watanabe.
Age: 22
Race: Human, Japanese
Class: Samurai/Shrine Maiden
Weapon(s) of choice: Black Katana “Kurosame”, Longbow
Magic: Dark Element, Holy Element
Armor Class: Medium/Light
Fun facts:
Kimiko Watanabe’s name is actually taken from real-life actor Ken Watanabe: an up-and-coming actor from japan.

Kurosame, her sword, means “Black Rain” litterally. It’s horribly cliche yet fun!

Her sword has the power to absorb other swords, allowing her to change it’s shape on the fly, she also gains knowledge of how to use them. Her favourite forms were the single katana, the double katana, european longsword and Rapier.

Kimiko’s goddess was Amateratsu, this afforded her some fun abilities and bonuses.

Kimiko functioned as the team’s Cleric, effective in one-on-one combat, and capable of mass-healing as well as creating shields of light. However, her sword gave her dark magics in the form of sword-arts which would zombify any foe she slew.

She was an angry girl from the beginning, but calmed down as the game progressed, becoming more focused and gentle natured. SHe’s still one of my favourites!

Her armor was initially black with violet highlights, but at the end of the game, became white with red adn violet highlights. I’ll add her story later…maybe.

I love to RP. Role Playing has always been a major past time for me, especially the fantasy-setting ones. I get to make my characters up and have them act how *I* want them to act!

However, a lot of my character’s share a lot of the same character traits. I make quite a few angry girls who attack boys and blame things on boys.

I was talking to my DM (Dungeon Master) about this and he thinks that it’s my transsexuality angry about my body and the like. He believes it’s my feminine-identity attacking masculinity out of anger. Hmmm..there may be something to that…
